Project Description
The first phase of the C-44 Reservoir Project involved the overall site development, including storm drain installation, entrance canal excavation, and bridge & culvert construction. Also included was the construction of a concrete control weir for the C-133 Canal and roadway construction for access to future portions of the overall C – 44 Reservoir.
Phillips & Jordan, Inc. (P&J), the project’s prime contractor, subcontracted VCM to provide construction services for the project. VCM’s status as a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) and HubZone Contractor allowed P&J to utilize the value VCM’s subcontract in their Small Business Plan to the USACE.
Work performed included:
- Site development for the office complex to be used by P&J and the USACE
- Site Grading and drainage
- Furnishing and placement of 6” of FDOT aggregate base rock materials
- Installation of electrical services to the compound
- Furnishing and installing chain link fencing along the perimeter of the compound including lightning protection grounding
- Office trailer setup including:
- Plumbing for water and wastewater
- Electrical hookups
- Construction of covered deck, stairs and handicap ramp
- Installation of well and well water conditioning equipment
- Forming and placing concrete for various work stations for the geotechnical laboratory
- Soil stabilization of subgrades for all roadways in the project
- Furnishing and installing 8” of FDOT aggregate base course
- Fine grading aggregate base course surface of all roadways
- Furnishing and installing asphalt surface course for all paved roadways
All work met USACE and project specifications and was completed within the scheduled timeline.
